There is no correct definition for alcohol abuse, as it is quite ambiguous to understand or define. To our satisfaction, we can define alcohol abuse as a boundary line between the two phases namely, normal drinkers and alcoholics. Technically speaking, alcohol abuse is considered as a pattern of drinking that harms one’s health, interpersonal relationships, or ability to work.

Alcohol abuse effects can be far-reaching and devastating. The effects of alcohol abuse not only have consequences for the drinker but those around her or him as well. Alcohol abuse effects can be both psychological and physical.

With respect to alcohol abuse in higher education, many reactive AND proactive measures have been initiated at some colleges and universities that have reduced the availability, acceptability, and irresponsibility of alcohol use on and off campus. The result: a noticeable, if not a significant reduction in alcohol-related problems manifested by students.

This toxic drug also slows your body’s ability to heal itself. Alcohol holds very little nutritional value, but it works very effectively in reducing the nutrients in your body, especially if abused. In fact, because of its high calorie content, the body treats it as fat, and as a result it breaks down the sugars in alcohol into fatty acids. However, alcohol abuse does more than just destroy nutrients in your body; it affects your appearance as well.

It would be wrong to assume that only African Americans living in pathetic economic conditions are the ones who are suffering from alcohol abuse. Even African Americans who live in cities, form a considerable portion of the abusive drinking population. They experience the same stress and pressures of an urban lifestyle as their white counterparts and use alcohol as a means to escape from the tensions of life. The amazing speed at which liqor stores are sprouting all over the country, also facilitate the heavy use of alcohol.

To get rid of this alcohol abuse you have to endure a long term process which requires patience and endurance. You can not find anything magical to cure your wound. What you can do is doing an earnest effort to make the Alcohol Treatment Program a success. In alcohol rehabilitation you can get the right boost up for making the effort a success.

I am talking from experience when I say one Alcoholic talking to another can be of great help, they have been through the same hell as I have and felt the same way. When I talk to another alcoholic I feel they know me, they understand me and I feel I am no longer alone. Professional people in the addiction field can be helpful and they can provide guidance to any person suffering from Alcoholism alcohol abuse but please don’t under estimate the power of one recovering Alcoholic talking to another.

So, have we answered the question what is the causes of alcoholism alcohol abuse? No we have not and there is still much research to be done before we can answer that. However, even if we don’t have all the answers we know for certain that any Alcoholic who wants to stop drinking can as long as they admit and accept they have a problem.
